Classes are held at the following locations:

beginner ballet (age 3/4 yrs)

 This class is for pre-school children (boys welcome too!). Many pupils have come from referrals due to the fun and caring atmosphere in the class. The aim at this age is to introduce youngsters to the following:
Emphasis on fun and interaction with the teacher and fellow pupils
Watching then demonstrating simple dance movements
Musical appreciation in turn helping with rhythm 
Props such as ribbons, feathers, flags, fairy wands etc are used to encourage the children to express themselves and help with co-ordination skills
Imaginative stories incorporating basic dance steps to interesting and varied music

pre- primary to grade 5 ballet

The new Pre-Primary and Primary Syllabus’ were launched in 2009. Following on from the success of this new innovative work the R.A.D have since launched the new Grades 1-3 and are due to bring out new Grade 4 and 5 in 2014. The philosophy behind thes syllabi is that this new work will encourage the development of an appropriate and sound technique, relevant for the ballet world of today. Fun to do and rewarding to teach, these syllabi help to develop the following:

Motor development, expressiveness, helping communication
Dexterity – helping with writing (ex for hands): better joint articulation in bodies.
Awareness of balance/control/co-ordination, understanding neural pathways in their bodies
Percussion instruments– awareness of mood/style of music
Encourage children to be creative and imaginative working with props 
Social interaction working with each other

higher grades 6 to 8

These grades are ideal for the pupil who enjoys dancing and wishes to continue training along side their educational training. It is especially suited to teenage students and the R.A.D have recently announced that UCAS points will go towards entry to University by passing these higher grades.

 

vocactional grades

The vocational grades are for those pupils who have a sound knowledge of ballet technique after many years of tuition. They are the next step on especially for those who are keen to further their vocational training.

adult beginner ballet class (no experience necessary)

For all those ladies who never got that chance to do ballet as a child and have always wanted to give it a try. This class is aimed at complete beginners and whilst being a fun class it will also help stretch, tone and elongate the limbs. This is a great alternative to the gym!

adult improver ballet class

This class is for those adults who have sound basic technique in ballet and are now working to improve to the next level. 

adult intermediate ballet class

This class is for those with minimum grade 5 standard

new! dance-fit class (starting monday 21st january 2013)

This class is for ladies looking for a fun exercise class which combines aerobic, toning and strenthening exercises with dance moves. This is a great way of keeping fit and is suitable for all abilities. Come along for your free trial class!
